Raspberry "Ruby necklace": variety description

Fundamentals of Agricultural Engineering

Raspberries should be located in well-lit areas with fertile soil and deep groundwater. For landing, it is necessary to prepare pits or furrows. The pits should have a width of 50-60 cm and a depth of 40−45 cm. Dig holes and prepare furrows two weeks before planting.

It is desirable to plant plants on high ridges with a significant amount of organic matter. During preparation, two buckets of peat or humus are required in each planting pit, as well as 1 liter of wood ash and about 30 g of Kemira Universal. After planting, watering is carried out. Further care is to carry out standard activities: watering, fertilizing, weeding, cultivating and preparing for winter.

In order to approximate the fruiting period and accelerate ripening in regions with relatively unfavorable climatic conditions, it is recommended to use all agricultural methods aimed at the best heating of the soil from early spring to autumn. It should be remembered that the Ruby necklace according to the established cultivation technology needs annual full removal of shoots in the autumn period.

Disease protection

Repairing raspberries of the Ruby Necklace variety are not too often attacked by plant parasites and are rarely affected by the main diseases of raspberry. At the stage of bud formation, raspberries in the evening are recommended to be abundantly sprayed with infusion based on tansy at the rate of 0.35 kg of dry grass per 10 l of boiling water. In autumn, it is very important to carry out full pruning and deep digging of the soil, which allows to destroy wintering insect pests.

To protect raspberries from spider mites and weevils, plants before the active flowering phase and in the autumn period need to be treated with fufanone or with such preparations as Iskra and Confidor. All diseased and damaged shoots must be cut out, and then burned.

Gardeners reviews

In the middle zone of Russia, the repair varieties obtained by the domestic breeder I.V. Kazakov proved to be especially good. These varieties include a ruby necklace. The variety is characterized by gardeners as high-yielding and transportable, which makes it very promising for cultivation for the purpose of commercial production. According to gardeners, the description of the variety is fully true: the ripening period is average, and the purpose of the berries is universal.

How to plant raspberries

Beginning of fruiting in the middle lane of our country occurs in mid-August. The berries do not fall off the bushes for a long time, and you can harvest once every five days. According to reviews, the “Ruby Necklace” is characterized by a high reproduction rate. With proper care for raspberries, yields can reach 2.5–3 kg from each bush, but in the reviews of summer residents it is noted that with an incorrect regime of care, the berry is prone to noticeable chopping. The maximum yield is observed only under high agricultural technology and favorable soil and climatic conditions.
