Table grape varieties are especially popular with domestic gardeners. Berries are consumed fresh, compotes and juices are made from them for the winter, frozen for cooking. Among such varieties, summer residents often prefer the Sympathy, or Victor-2 grape variety; with minimal care, the vine gives rich yields and takes root in regions with a cool climate.

Description and characteristics of the variety Sympathy (Victor-2)

Table grapes of this variety have two names - Sympathy and Victor-2. The latter was given to the plant in honor of its creator - Ukrainian breeder Viktor Nikolaevich Krainov. To develop a new table variety, such parental forms as Radiant Kishmish and Talisman were used. Sympathy took the best characteristics from both varieties and is successfully cultivated by both farmers and owners of small summer cottages.

The grapes of the Ukrainian breeder are medium early, the first harvest begins to be harvested 130 days after the buds swell.

Brief description of the Sympathy variety:

  1. The purpose of grapes is for eating, making juices, compotes.
  2. The ripening period is medium early, about 5 months, and ripening is simultaneous, which is convenient for harvesting.
  3. The type of bush is vigorous, the vines of the grapes are strong, well branched. The shoots grow rather quickly, which gives the grapes a decorative look.
  4. The first flowers bloom on the bush in early summer. They are bisexual, so there is no need to plant a pollinator nearby.
  5. Bunches of grapes are characterized by an average degree of density, one specimen weighs up to 1 kg. However, some gardeners claim that with good agronomic care, this figure can be increased by 50%.
  6. The shape of the fruit is slightly elongated, and a sharpening is observed at the tip of the berry.
  7. The weight of one grape ranges from 10 to 15 grams. When ripe, the berries acquire a yellow or pinkish color, it depends on the area where the culture is grown. The peel of the fruit is quite dense, thus preventing damage to the berries by pests. With full ripening, no cracking is observed.
  8. The pulp of ripe grapes is fleshy and juicy, has a pleasant taste. The grapes have an attractive appearance, therefore they are often grown for subsequent sale.
  9. The frost resistance of the hybrid is at a high level, so the grapes are also cultivated in the middle lane with a cold climate.
  10. Sympathy, with proper care, is rarely affected by fungal diseases and pests.

Advantages and disadvantages

Summer residents, who have already planted Sympathy on their plots, note the many advantages of grapes.

Pleasant fruit taste.

High cold resistance and disease immunity.

Unpretentiousness to the growing region.

Possibility of cultivation for sale.

5High productivity - up to 20 kg per bush.

Average resistance to diseases such as oidium.

The subtleties of growing grapes

The speed of adaptation of the seedling to a new place and its further development depend on the correctly chosen place and preparation of the soil.

Seat selection

For planting Sympathy hybrid grapes, a non-boggy site is selected on a hill, which is illuminated by the sun during the day. The amicable ripening of the bunches and the quality of the harvest depend on the hit of the rays. Since the variety is highly branched, care must be taken in advance to create supports for the grapes.

A week before planting, the land at the chosen place is dug up onto the bayonet of a shovel, simultaneously picking out the roots of the weeds so that they do not take away food from the young bushes. If the soil on the site is poor, when digging, fertilizers intended for fruit crops are added.

Preparing for landing

It is recommended to purchase seedlings in proven nurseries, in spontaneous markets there is a chance to buy a different variety that is declared by the seller.

The day before planting in the ground, the roots of the grapes are soaked in water, to which the rooting agent is added for better adaptation in a new place.

Landing scheme

Planting work is carried out according to the following instructions:

  1. At a distance from each other, holes are dug with dimensions of 80x80 (width and depth).
  2. Drainage is laid at the bottom of each pit; for this layer, broken brick or small gravel is taken.
  3. A layer of soil mixed with fertilizers is poured onto it.
  4. A grape seedling is installed and the roots are carefully straightened.
  5. Sprinkle with the rest of the soil and tamp the earth. It is important that the root collar is not covered.
  6. Water the plant abundantly and lay a mulching layer around.

Further care for him

In order for the grapes to live up to the characteristics declared by the breeders, it is necessary to provide the plant with minimal care, which includes such procedures as irrigation, the introduction of nutrients and the prevention of diseases.

In the early years, a grape seedling needs additional moisture, especially if it is a dry summer. When choosing the frequency of watering, pay attention to the weather conditions. If there is no rain for a long time, the grapes are irrigated once a week, using about 20 liters of water for each bush. In rainy weather, additional watering is abandoned so as not to cause the development of fungal diseases.

Top dressing

The introduction of nutrients helps to get rich yields. Do it twice a season.

Agronomist with 12 years of experience. Our best summer cottage expert.

The first time at the end of spring, using formulations with nitrogen, the second - at the stage of berry formation, giving preference to fats containing phosphorus and potassium.

Preparing the plant for winter

In the southern regions, there is no need to cover the plant before the onset of cold weather, since the culture is characterized by frost resistance. In the middle lane, organic nonwovens are used for insulation.

Disease and pest control

Due to its strong immunity, the culture of this variety is rarely affected by pathologies of a fungal nature and insect pests. For the purpose of prophylaxis, a double spraying with fungicidal chemicals is carried out - before flowering and at the stage of berry formation.

Harvesting and using the crop

130 days after bud break, they start harvesting, since the bunches ripen at the same time. The berries are stored in the refrigerator for no more than 2 weeks. To extend the shelf life of grapes, juices and compotes are prepared from it for the winter.
